Canadian Ski Patrol System - Central Zone

Media Advisory 2012-01-25

Last winter 2,329 people were admitted to hospital in Canada as a result of a skiing or snowboarding fall according to the Canadian Institute for Health Information.

Have you ever thought about how these people get off the ski hill to get to medical care? Ambulances and paramedics can't get to a patient in the middle of a ski hill or on a nordic trail. The vast majority of injured skiers and boarders are helped by volunteer members of the Canadian Ski Patrol System (C.S.P.S.). We invite you to come out and see what we do and how we do it at the C.S.P.S. Central Zone annual First Aid Competition on Saturday, February 4 at Mount St. Louis Moonstone Ski Resort.

What – President's Cup, C.S.P.S. Central Zone First Aid Competition

When – Saturday, February 4, 2011, 10:00 AM

Where – Mount St. Louis Moonstone Ski Resort, 24 Mount St. Louis Road, Coldwater, Ontario

Why I joined the Canadian Ski Patrol...

Who are we?
The Canadian Ski Patrol System is Federally and Provincially recognized for our first aid training. Our Certified Patrollers who are trained in Advanced First Aid and have extensive On Snow Rescue Training, set the standard for patrolling in Ontario.

To become a "Certified Patroller" you must meet the CSPS standards for Advanced First Aid and On Snow Rescue Training.

CSPS Patrollers are volunteers who through determination, drive and a love for helping others put thousands of hours a year into providing volunteer ski patrollers at resorts around Ontario.

Want to Join?
If you are interested in joining the CSPS and becoming a "Certified Ski Patroller" we are always looking for additional volunteers.

Our Services
Our Patrollers, as part of active CSPS Volunteer Patrols, provide safety education and Advanced First Responder Rescue services at Ontario Ski Resorts, Hills and Trails.

When choosing a safe resort or ski area for your family, make sure you look for the CSPS emblem. Our Patrollers can be identified by their destinctive yellow and blue uniforms.

Join Us
If you are interested in joining the Canadian Ski Patrol System, and would like to read more about patrolling, just select the "join the ski patrol" in the menu to the left. We have courses running now and can get you positioned on a patrol this year.
